Wire wrap rings are extremely simple to make and do not require you to buy a lot of supplies like most DIY projects. All you need is a wire and something to fold it onto and you’re set. This article will show you how to make different types of wire rings for you to get started with your little craft projects!

What Do You Need?

Out of all DIY projects, a wire rind is the one that needs the least amount of supplies. You’ll need some brass or copper wires of 16 to 18 gauge. You can easily get them at a local supply store. The length you’d need from one ring could be anywhere between 3 to 5 inches, depending on how creative you want to get to the wire ring.

Apart from that, you’ll need a side cutter to cut your wire and small round nose pliers to fold your wire into the desired shape. And last but not the least, you’ll need a rod to circle your ring onto. You can take any roll at your home which is sturdy and fill do the job.

How To Make A Basic Wire Ring?

For a basic wire ring, all you need is a 3 inch piece of copper or brass wire to get started. The piece can be 16, 18, or 20 gauge. After that, you can make small loops on either ends of the wire, facing opposite directions or make slight curves on them. The bending of the wire can be done using the round nose pliers.

After you’re satisfied with your design on either end, wrap the wire around a dowel or something similar. The best thing about wire rings is that the ring is made a little larger than usual and can stretch when required to fit into somebody’s bigger fingers. It can also be folded in to fit into small fingers. Jewelry Making Journal does a step-by-step tutorial on wire rings for you to learn even quicker.

Rose Wire Ring

A wire ring with a rose on top of it sounds extremely difficult but really isn’t. All you have to do is find some copper wires in any color that you like, some pliers and a thing to roll it on. Depending on the size of your finger, anything from a lip balm tube to a permanent marker will do the job.

Start wrapping the wire around the tube for the base shape. Wrap the wire twice to give the heavy design a solid base and wrap it in the opposite direction to lock it in. Check if the ring fits your finger and then move on with the DIY. After that, start twisting either end of the wire around each other to give it the shape of a rose. You can wrap the rest of the wire around the base or underneath the ring to give it an elegant finish just like the one in The DIY Adventures.

Pearl Wire Wrapped Ring

You can get extremely creative with your wire rings by twisting them around, bend them into different shapes and even add crystals, stones, and pearls to make them prettier! For a pearl wire wrapped ring, you’ll need a pair of flat nose pliers, round nose pliers, a cutter, and anything to shape your wire into a ring.

To get started, thread the bead onto the wire and put it in the center of the length. After that, place the wire onto the roll that gives it shape. Wrap the wire around this roll twice or thrice to give a stronger base to the pearl for the ring. In order to give it a more antique look, you can wrap the ends of the wire around the bead to give it a nest like structure.
